Het Geest vervulde leven, waarin de nieuwe mens die op Christus lijkt gestalte gaat krijgen, is een proces die je steeds dichter bij God brengt. De oude mens wil zich in de wereld altijd doen gelden, grote ego's, liefdeloosheid, haat, onvrijheid, narcisme, opgeblazenheid, meer liefde voor genot dan voor God. Dit leven voert naar de dood. De oude mens, het vlees kan God niet behagen. Het vlees staat tegenover de Geest die ons voert naar waterbronnen van het leven. De nieuwe mens, die steeds meer op Christus gaat lijken, is liefdevol, goed, nederig, zachtmoedig, trouw, vol zelfbeheersing. De nieuwe Christus mens haat de zonde, en stelt zijn doelen alleen af op God. Kijk maar naar Jezus, in de gezegende gestalte van God. De Heilige Geest, de Trooster, de Helper, maakt dat je dat allemaal kan in Zijn kracht. Zonder Hem geestloos leven, met Hem o wonder, genezing, bevrijding, vernieuwing, verandering, vrede en vreugde ondanks de omstandigheden.

God wil ons door Zijn Geest vernieuwen en veranderen en vol van vreugde maken. De woorden uit de Schrift zijn dan stromen van levend water geworden die uit uw binnenste vloeien. Na mijn hernieuwde toewijding aan God, na mijn doop in 2010, is het proces van vernieuwing in mijn leven volop aan de gang. De Heer is zeer nabij, Zijn Geest leidt mij in alle waarheid en ik vertrouw op Hem. Wat een vreugdevol leven, echt leven. Naar de kerk van de Nazarener in Vlaardingen heeft de Heer mij zelf geleid. Zijn Geest getuigt dat in mij. In het proces van mijn doop, kerklid worden, naar een huiskerk gaan van de gemeente, taken gaan doen in de kerk, enz. doe ik met volle overtuiging en ik weet de Heer zeer nabij. Getuigenis geven van de hoop die in mij is dat Jezus de Heer is en ons zal brengen tot de Vader door Jezus de Zoon, dat geloof en vertrouwen is de grootste schat, de parel van grote waarde in mijn leven. Blijf niet rond tobben in uw oude leven maar word vernieuwd door de kracht van Gods Geest. Vraag er om aan de Heer en Hij zal u horen, Hij houdt van u zonder voorwaarden, Hij heeft u lief. (Joh.3:16) God is goed, God is liefde!

Religie of Relatie

Lieve mensen,

Heel veel, vooral kerkmensen, houden zich bezig met religie in plaats van relatie met de eeuwige God en Vader van onze Heer Jezus Christus. Religie echter eist, relatie biedt! Religie is een slavendrijver, je moet en zal, vervul de wet, doe alles zelf ook wat je niet doen kunt. Doodvermoeiend en nooit haalbaar.

Het evangelie van onze Heer eist niets maar geeft alleen maar. Hij gaf uiteindelijk Zichzelf voor ons. Genade is dat, amazing grace, onvoorstelbare liefde die deze genade biedt. 'Als de Zoon u heeft vrijgemaakt zal u waarlijk vrij zijn.' Alle zelfwerkzaamheid en eigengerechtigheid verdwijnt. In plaats van eisende werkheiligheid komt er de vrijheid van Gods kinderen die Hij voor ons bedoeld heeft.

Het is heel moeilijk voor ons mensen toe te geven dat we het zelf nooit halen. Ons te laten vallen in de handen van een genadige God die zelfs Zijn eigen Zoon niet spaarde, maar voor ons allen heeft overgegeven. Ons ego wordt niet gestreeld door het aanvaarden van Gods genade en toe te geven dat wij het niet kunnen. De Vader staat met uitgebreide armen klaar ons op te vangen zodra wij maar een kik geven en roepen om hulp. Heer, redt mij! is genoeg.

Laat dan de religie met al zijn eisen achter u, en neemt de genade van de Heer Jezus Christus aan. 'Doch allen, die Hem hebben aangenomen, hun heeft Hij macht gegeven kinderen Gods te worden, hun die in Zijn Naam geloven; die niet uit bloed, noch uit de wil van het vlees, noch uit de wil van een man, doch uit God geboren zijn' ( Johannes 1: 12,13) Werpt u helemaal in Zijn genadige armen en u vindt rust voor uw vermoeide zielen.

Als we dit evangelie van genade hebben aanvaard zijn we opnieuw geboren, van bovenaf geboren. We zijn een nieuwe schepping. Het oude is voorbij gegaan, het is allemaal nieuw geworden. We moeten nu ons leven niet heiligen maar we kunnen niet anders meer vanwege Zijn liefde voor ons. De wet, de slavendrijver zal ons geen nut doen. de genade van de Heer Jezus Christus heeft ons ingehaald en in bezit genomen.De dankbaarheid voor Gods genade in Zijn geliefde Zoon Jezus Christus beheerst nu ons leven. De Heilige Geest betuigt dit in onze harten. De kracht van God wordt merkbaar in ons leven doordat wij stomme zonden (doelmissers) gaan haten en niet meer doen. Zouden we zelf nooit gekund hebben in onze oude religie.

Je bent nu bevrijd van jezelf en van de last van je zonden, dank God daarvoor.

Lieve mensen,

We schrijven 1962 toen ik mijn ´coming out´ beleefde, het woord bestond toen helemaal nog niet in Nederland en homoseksualiteit was een groot taboe, zeker in christelijke -gereformeerde- kring. Ik was 17 jaar en wist vanaf ongeveer mijn 12e jaar dat ik anders was dan anderen maar dacht bij mijzelf dat dat wel voorbij zou gaan, dus niet. Mijn vader had wel iets in de gaten maar wist natuurlijk niet waar het over ging. Toch vroeg hij mij op een avond wat er toch was en toen vertelde ik over mijn gevoelens voor jongens. Hij zei toen zo verstandig: `Ach dat hebben zo veel jongens van jouw leeftijd dat is meestal een ontwikkeling die vanzelf voorbij gaat.´ Maar het ging niet voorbij. Ik kreeg af en toe een vriendje en nam die ook mee naar huis. Ik besef nu wat een ruim christelijk hart mijn ouders hadden, zo liefdevol, zo op Christus lijkend. Toch hebben ze het er natuurlijk zelf wel zwaar mee gehad maar nooit over mijn rug alsof het mijn schuld zou zijn. In de jaren daarna in 1967 werd ik steward bij de KLM, 50 procent van de cabinebemanning was gay dus ik zat goed hahaha! In die tijd, ondanks alle tegenstand van allerlei kerkelijke hoog- en laagwaardigheidsbekleders, professoren,dominees, priesters, gemeenteleden e.d. was ik al tot volkomen aanvaarding van mijn homoseksualiteit gekomen en had ook vrede met God. Door het goede voorbeeld van mijn ouders en het beeld dat ik via hen van God had heb ik Hem nooit de schuld gegeven. Hij was en is enkel liefde. Ik ben altijd een heel religieus mens geweest en de Heer heeft zich niet onbetuigd gelaten in mijn leven, Hij is altijd aanwezig. Ik zocht Hem wanhopig en vond Hem vol vrede. Dat wonder duurt nog steeds voort, wie zoekt vindt, zo eenvoudig is het. Soms in mijn leven liep ik van Hem weg, maar God is trouw en laat mij nooit meer los.
In 1970 leerde ik mijn huidige vriend kennen en u na bijna 41 jaar zijn we nog steeds in liefde en trouw bij elkaar. Vorig jaar vierden we met familie en vrienden ons 40 jarig samenzijn. Ook zijn we een paar jaar geleden getrouwd. De ouders van mijn vriend hebben ons ook altijd aanvaard dus we hebben het met wederzijdse ouders heel goed gehad. Veel voor hen gedaan, mee met vakantie soms, altijd bezocht en nooit hun liefde vergeten. Mijn vader zei eens: ´Ik begrijp niet als je van je kinderen houdt dat je hen dan verstoot omdat ze anders zijn. Dan heb je volgens mij nooit van hen gehouden.´Mijn vriend behoort bij de PKN gereformeerde kerk en ik ben lid van de ´Kerk van de Nazarener´ in Vlaardingen. Mijn vader overleed in 1994 op 81 jarige leeftijd aan prostaatkanker, een moeilijke weg voor mijn moeder vooral. Hij ging als gelovig mens ons voor en daar hadden we vrede mee, alles was goed, alles was uitgesproken met elkaar en zo konden we hem in vrede laten gaan. Mijn moeder stierf op 93 jarige leeftijd in 2009 maar is dement geworden. Tot het laatst hebben we haar bezocht en heeft zij ons herkend. Het is een wonder wat liefde vermag. Homo, hetero, trans- of ander seksueel, het maakt niet uit: zo ik de liefde niet had ik ware niets, schallend koper of een rinkelend cymbaal.
Ons leven is verborgen met Christus in God, hij heeft ons volkomen aan het licht gebracht. Onze ouders hebben daarvoor het zaad gezaaid en dat zaad is duizendvoudig opgekomen. Beiden zijn zij opgenomen in het eeuwige licht van de eeuwige Liefde en wij mogen nog verder hier doorgaan, gelukkig door Hem wandelend in Zijn licht en liefde iedere dag.
Jullie allemaal wens ik die aanvaarding en vrede toe, hoe moeilijk jullie leven ook is. Zoek Hem en laat je door Zijn liefde omarmen.

'Dag en nacht roepen zij tot God'

Lieve mensen,

Deze week heb ik het boek "Dag en nacht roepen zij tot God" van Pete Greig gelezen.(Gideon uitgave) Een schitterend inspirerend boek dat gaat over de 24/7- gebedsbeweging die in de laatste 10 jaar als een olievlek uitbreidde over Europa en de wereld.
Naar aanleiding van dit boek zocht ik op internet naar equivalenten in Nederland. Het 'Leger des Heils' heeft gebedsgemeenschappen in Nederland, er zijn gebedshuizen- en winkels. En natuurlijk gebedsgroepen van allerlei kerken overal.

Echter 24 uur, 7 dagen onafgebroken bidden waarin ieder een uur (of meer uren)van het etmaal voor zijn/haar rekening neemt kom ik in Nederland niet tegen. Een leger van bidders die de lofzang en het gebed gaande houden zou voor Nederland een geweldig geschenk zijn. Verdiend hebben we het niet want het geloof- en de kerkverlating in Nederland is schrikbarend. Toch zijn er gelovigen die op de bres willen staan door te bidden zonder ophouden voor alle mensen ! 1 Tess.5:17 Met dit onophoudelijke gebed doet God wonderen en tekenen van Zijn nabijheid, genezingen, bekeringen en laat Hij zien dat Hij een God van liefde is. Hij daagt ons tevens uit de verschoppelingen en uitgestotenen te omarmen en te doen wat het evangelie van ons vraagt: lief te hebben, oneindig lief te hebben.

Vanmiddag was ik op 'bedevaart' naar Woerden, naar de gebedswinkel (www.degebedswinkel.nl) die onder auspicien van de Cama Parousia Woerden is ontstaan. Ik heb daar een uur gereserveerd voor gebed en een mooie tijd gehad. Ook een heel leuk gesprek gehad met vrijwilligers die de gebedswinkel runnen.

God is goed, God is liefde.

Oordeelt niet

Lieve mensen,

Op allerlei christelijke sites valt het mij op dat er zo veel wordt geoordeeld over anderen. Soms lijkt het dat wij als christenen het onderwijs van de Meester nooit hebben gehoord en verstaan. We maken ons druk over de rechte leer van anderen, boren de grond in die niet zo denken als wij en zijn liefdeloos bezig tegenover onze naasten.

Heeft Jezus niet gezegd: Oordeelt niet en gij zult niet geoordeeld worden?

In Galaten 5 gaat het over vlees (natuurlijke, niet wedergeboren mens) en Geest. Paulus schrijft daar over het wandelen door de Geest en het begeren van het vlees. We zijn vrij geworden door elkaar te dienen door de liefde maar moeten die vrijheid niet gaan gebruiken als een aanleiding voor het vlees.

Daar hoort zeker het niet oordelen van de ander bij. Dat oordeel is vleselijk naar de oude natuurlijke mens. Dat moeten we niet doen maar ons laten leiden door de Geest van Christus die ons waarlijk heeft vrij gemaakt.

Paulus vertelt in Galaten 5: 13-26 over dat wonderbare vrije leven door de Geest.

Moge velen die heerlijke vrije weg door de liefde van God gaan betreden en in Zijn Geest gaan leven. We zijn een nieuwe schepping, het oude is voorbij gegaan het is alles nieuw geworden!

Via een filmpje van 'you tube' was ik zeer ontroerd door de organist Dennis Wubs die voor zijn 10 jarig organistenjubileum psalm 89: 1, 3 en 7 speelde in een kerkdienst in Beerta, Groningen op zondag 30 augustus 2009. Vooral de tekst van vers 3 vind ik zo mooi en verheven:

Uw macht bezingen, Heer, de engelen in koor.
Het loflied van uw trouw weerklinkt de hemel door.
Geen enkel schepsel, Heer, hoe hoog in 't licht gezeten,

What is the most important thing in life? Sure, that's the relationship with our God through Jesus Christ our Lord in the community with the Holy Spirit.

How can we experience that? O yes, through the Holy Spirit. He reminds us the words of Christ and leads us into the will of God. Open your hearts for Him and he will change your life. He represents the love of God in Christ.

Please pray now this prayer:

O Lord I am a sinner, please forgive me all my sins,

make my life new and come into me through your Holy Spirit!

Give me the Joy of a reborn christian and live in me forever.

Never, never leave me alone and let me always know you are there.

Thank you Lord, you're amazing living God.

Fwd: Opdat u genezing ontvangt

Lieve mensen,

In de eredienst van zondag 30 mei 2010 -tweede dienst- was er aan het einde van de dienst een zeer krachtig gebed met de gemeente om genezing voor een pasgetrouwde jongeman en zijn vrouw. Hij vertelde dat bij hem kanker is geconstateerd met uitzaaiingen. Al zijn vrienden om hem heen en Ed Meenderink die dit emotionele gebed voor genezing uitsprak.

Het was een ontroerend en heftig moment voor iedereen en als hij geneest zei Ed zal niemand weten door wiens gebed. Zelf heb ik altijd dat ik niet weet hoe ik behoor te bidden maar de Geest zelf pleit dan met onuitsprekelijke verzuchtingen en ik bid dan in tongen, in dit geval voor dit hartverscheurende ziektegeval. Toch geloof ik vast dat Jezus Christus vandaag en tot in eeuwigheid Dezelfde is en ook nu mensen heelt tot op het bot en er niets meer van de aanvallen van ziekte en dood te vinden zijn. Jezus is Heer!

Jacobus 5:14-16 spreekt hierin duidelijke taal en bidden voor zieken is een opdracht voor de kerk en daarom ben ik zo blij als er langzamerhand bij de ´Kerk van de Nazarener´een ´healing ministry´ontstaat die in gebed de strijd aangaat met alle ziekte en doodsdreiging.

Ik ben nog te kort lid van de gemeente om daadwerkelijk mee te gaan doen in aktiviteiten, maar de Geest geeft mij aansporing om met een team voor zieken te gaan bidden opdat zij genezing ontvangen. Ons hart moet breken bij alle ziekte en nood, ook in de gemeente, zodat we dag en nacht moeten gaan roepen tot God onze Vader opdat zijn heerlijkheid openbaar worde, Hij is immers Heer over dood en leven. In het hele nieuwe testament wemelt het van aanrakingen door Jezus en zij werden gezond, geheeld, naar lichaam en geest.

Ook nu in onze tijd gaat Jezus Christus als de Levende genezend rond en als wij slechts de zoom van zijn kleed aanraken zullen wij gezond zijn! En als wij bewust of onbewust gezondigd hebben wordt ons dat vergeven, wat een God hebben wij!

Toch weten we dat in de praktijk niet iedereen wordt genezen en meestal weten we dan niet waarom maar dat ontslaat ons nooit van de plicht te blijven volharden in het gebed voor de zieken om genezing en ons geloof daarin. De goedheid en liefde van God blijven basis voor elk smeekgebed tot Hem. Laten we dan ook eenparig in geloof en aanhoudend in krachtig gebed met elkaar tot God gaan en verwachten dat Hij genezing zal schenken op ons povere gebed.

Onze liefde voor elkaar zal hierin maatstaf zijn. Moge het liefdevolle krachtige gebed van gisteren voor die lieve jongen,zijn vrouw, familie en vrienden volkomen heling schenken. Waar wij machteloos staan zal Hij nieuwe wegen openen in al onze ziekte en nood. Zo prijzen wij dan de Vader en de Zoon en de Heilige Geest. Blijf aandringen en kloppen op de deur en verwacht wat menselijk gesproken niet te verwachten is.

Nooit kan ´t geloof te veel verwachten, des Heilands woorden zijn gewis, ´t faalt aardse vrienden vaak aan krachten, maar nooit een vriend als Jezus is.

Never ending story

Dear friends,

I am so glad now! I became yesterday a member of the ´Church of the Nazarene´ in Vlaardingen, Holland. After my conversion, baptism, going more regularly to the church, taking part in a housechurch of ´the Nazarenes´, it became a rapid road to this church. All this took only a few months. It was as I was looking at it as an outsider, I did not understand myself, but clearly the Holy Spirit led me through the way I am going now. I am convinced now in my heart that this road is the way I have to go. Learn to listen to the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit, His leading guidence. God is good!
This new life is a never ending story. Through dead and resurrection of Christ we all got new life, all who believe in Him shall live with Him forever.
I testify that Jesus is Lord of my life, I will follow Him and I only can do so through the power of his Holy Spirit. All sins are forgiven and the sanctification of my life started from now on.

God´s grace is incredibly high!

Lief hebben

'Hebt lief en doe wat u wilt' zei Augustinus al eeuwen geleden, want de liefde gaat nooit in tegen het gebod van God.

Zijn wezen is liefde! Die zelfs zijn eigen Zoon niet gespaard heeft maar voor ons allen heeft overgegeven.

Laten wij dan lief hebben met woord en daad en zo de wet van God vervullen. Uit genade ontvangen wij dit alles!

Door Hem kunnen wij dat omdat wij een nieuwe schepping zijn, het oude is voorbij gegaan het is allemaal nieuw geworden, en dit alles door de kracht van God die Jezus uit de doden deed verrijzen.

Nu is er perspectief, zouden wij die der zonde gestorven zijn met Hem daarin dan nog leven?

Ons leven is in Christus verborgen bij God.

mijn doopring

Vanmiddag heb ik een ring gekocht ter herinnering aan mijn doop op 14 februari 2010. Een mooie ronde gladde edelmetaal ring met inscriptie. Ingegraveerd de datum en Jezus is Heer.

Rond zonder eind is symbool van de trouw en liefde van God. Ik hoop hem te dragen totdat Hij komt.

"Want indien u met uw mond belijdt, dat Jezus Heer is, en met uw hart gelooft dat God Hem uit de doden heeft opgewekt, zult u behouden worden!" Dit is een getuigenis voor Jezus Christus, die Here is en levend maakt.

Lieve familie, vrienden, broeders en zusters,

Vandaag is voor mij een zeer feestelijke dag. Met mijn doop wordt nu een oude periode afgesloten wat ik allemaal heb mogen doen in gehoorzaamheid aan God. Als kind hebben mijn ouders mij, zoals gewoon was in de gereformeerde kerk, laten besprenkelen met water. (kinderdoop)

Het was 1945 en mijn witte doopjurk had oranje linten vanwege de bevrijding van de Duitse bezetting. Later heb ik dat besprenkelen leren verstaan als een opdragen aan God en niet als een doop. Mijn ouders echter ben ik dankbaar dat zij mij bij de Heer hebben gebracht. Het waren biddende ouders, een kostbaar bezit voor de kinderen.

Mijn leven ontwikkelde zich verder normaal al was ik als kind wel een eenzaam kind, ondanks vriendjes op school en op straat. Ook kwam daarbij het opgroeien dat homoseksuele gevoelens duidelijk aanwezig waren die niet weggedrukt konden worden. De kerk heeft hierin over het algemeen een afwijzende rol gespeeld. Je mag er allemaal zijn zoals je bent, behalve als homoseksueel. De enkele accepterende kerk c/q pastor daargelaten, maar het gros van de kerken negatief. Met de bijbel in de hand eruit gezwiept. Vind je het dan vreemd dat de kerk bijna geen homoseksuelen in het instituut kerk als leden heeft? Je diepste wezen te moeten ontkennen en aan eenzaamheid overgeleverd zijn,dat is geestelijke moord. Gelukkig is mijn ervaring met God totaal anders. Samen met een vriend, Cees Meynen, heb ik in 1991/1992 de 'Evangelisch Roze Vieringen' opgericht. Iedere laatste zondag van de maand om 3 uur in de Keizersgrachtkerk in Amsterdam voor al die dakloze en en vaak psychisch zeer gewonde homo's en lesbiennes die in hun eigen kerk geen plaats kregen. Achttien jaar bestaan de vieringen nu en we weten ons zeer gezegend met tussen de 100 en 150 bezoekers per keer. Ook Ed Meenderink hebben wij als voorganger mogen begroeten en allen die ons met liefde in plaats van oordeel bejegenen zijn we dankbaar want God is liefde. Ondanks alles ging ik hartstochtelijk op zoek naar de Heer door bijv. het lezen van geestelijke boeken, biografieen van mensen die de Heer kenden, de bijbel enz. En de Heer heeft zich niet onbetuigd gelaten in mijn leven, want wie zoekt vindt en wie klopt wordt open gedaan.

Door al het zoeken was ik in de charismatische beweging terecht gekomen en twee maal per jaar bezocht ik jarenlang de charismatische conventies destijds in Dalfsen. Daar mocht ik de doop in de Heilige Geest ontvangen naar de belofte van Jezus: 'want Johannes doopte wel met water, maar u zult me de Heilige Geest gedoopt worden, niet lang na deze dagen.' Door deze doop in de Heilige Geest heeft God een groot wonder in mijn leven gegeven: Sinds die tijd (de 80- er jaren) heeft de Heer mijn eenzaamheid totaal weggenomen. Ik kan het niet begrijpen maar het is de waarheid. De treffende uitdrukking hiervan in psalm 116:1 uit het liedboek zegt het zo : 'God heb ik lief, want die getrouwe Heer nam, toen ik riep, met toegenegen oren mijn woorden aan. Hij zal mij blijven horen en levenslang ben ik niet eenzaam meer.' Deze epifanie, verschijning van de Heer in mijn leven laat mij de trouw zien van God. Als een constante is Hij aanwezig in mijn leven. Door Hem ben ik erbij geroepen, apart gezet, geheiligd.

Wat zou ik zonder Hem geweest zijn, hoe zou ik zonder Hem bestaan? Ik zou ten prooi aan angst en vrees zijn en eenzaam in de wereld staan.

'Wanneer ik op mijn bed aan U denk, over U nadenk in nachtelijke uren,zeker U bent een Helper voor mij geweest, in de schaduw van uw vleugels zal k vrolijk zingen. Mijn ziel klampt zich aan U vast, Uw rechterhand ondersteunt mij.' Psalm 63:7-9.

Persoonlijk voel ik mij altijd verbonden met God. Ik behoor tot het 'mystieke lichaam van Christus' , de universele kerk, niet perse behorende bij een geinstitutioneerde kerk. Overal aanwezig waar mensen Christus hebben aangenomen en zo de macht hebben gekregen kinderen van God te worden. Dus in- en buiten de kerk bestaat deze gemeenschap.

Het meest fantastische van God is, dat als ik me bewust werd door de Heilige Geest van zonde, van doel missen, de Vader niet van mij week. God is immers trouw en zichzelf verloochenen kan Hij niet! Dat heb ik ervaren. Hij roept je terug als je je identificatie in de wereld zoekt en niet in Christus alleen. 'De wereld gaat voorbij en haar begeren maar wie de wil van God doet blijft tot in eeuwigheid.' De oude mens wil zich altijd nog laten gelden, maar als Hij laat zien door zijn Geest wat Hij allemaal voor jou persoonlijk heeft gedaan, dat Hij jouw redding en verlossing bewerkstelligd heeft door zijn eigen leven te geven voor ons, hoe zouden wij dan die der zonde gestorven zijn daarin leven?

Dagelijkse bekering is nu mijn weg, wedergeboorte het werk van God: 'Hij heeft de macht gegeven kinderen van God te worden, voor hen die in zijn Naam geloven.' Nu ben ik dan weer op mij plaats gezet in de leerschool van Jezus. Jezus leven van mijn leven, Jezus dood van mijnen dood is mijn identificatie met Christus. Met Jezus wordt ik nu begraven door de doop in zijn dood om met Hem op te staan in nieuw leven.

Deze stap in gehoorzaamheid aan God kwam zo maar bij mij binnen: ´Je moet je nog laten dopen!´ Er is een tijd voor de doop en nu een tijd na de doop in het nieuwe leven. Ik verwacht er veel van in geloof en met de hulp van God. Het nieuwe leven ligt klaar na de doop, ik ontvang het met blijdschap. Zo gaat God unieke wegen met mensen, Hij biedt wegen van bevrijding en verlossing. De oranje linten aan mijn baby doopjurk symboliseerde de bevrijding van ons land, de identificatie met Christus symboliseert het eeuwige leven met Hem door de dood heen. En vanwege mijn identificatie met Christus heb ik ook weer heel symbolisch met oud en nieuw 2009/2010 een gedicht geschreven, uiteraard genoemd:

de Heer van dood en leven,
ik moet Hem achterna,
Hem ook mijn leven geven!

Met Hem door ´t watergraf
verrijzen tot nieuw leven,
ik oet Hem achterna
opnieuw geboren wezen.

van schuld en oude pijn,
Hij eersteling der mensen
wil ook mijn Redder zijn.

Steeds is Hij in mijn leven
die macht van liefd´ en trouw,
Hij heeft mij nooit begeven
de Rots waarop ik bouw.

Die Heiland van de volken
na eindeloos geduld´
komt weder op de wolken
dan is Zijn Woord vervuld.

Testimony: my baptism and the faithfulness of God

Dear brothers, sisters and friends,

With great joy I like to tell you that I will be baptized in the 'Church of the Nazarene' in Vlaardingen on sunday the 14th of february 2010.The guide for this baptism is a special part of the Romanletter of St.Paul, Romans 6:1-14. The old life be devoured through the new life. First with Him into the (water)grave and after that resurrect with Him and walk then in newness of life. Died with Christ and risen with Him! God has been very faithfully in my life and has forfilled all my desires and made me happy and never lonesome. To Him be the glory.

In this baptism the old black life will be symbolized by a black christening gown to go with me into the watergrave and after rising with Christ a white christening gown will be coated to symbolize the new life.

"Your old sin-loving nature was buried with Him by baptism when he died, and when God the Father, with glorious power, brought him back to life again, you were given his wonderful new life to enjoy."

Romans 6:4

"Your old evil desires were nailed to the cross with Him; that part of you that loves to sin was crushed and fatally wounded, so that your sin-loving body is no longer under sin's control, no longer needs to be a slave to sin; for when you are deadened to sin you are freed from all its allure and its power over you. And since your old sin-loving nature "died" with Christ we know that you will share his new life.

Romans 6:6-8"

This my dear friends is the deep meaning of baptism. Trust always in the Lord and live a new life with Him who conquered new life on the death.

deceased in the Lord Jesus

Dear friends,

On the 20th of november at 6.55 am my dear mother died in the age of 93 years old. She suffered already about 10 years of demention. She deceased in the Lord Jesus Christ, we blessed her and prayed with her just before she left us.

She has always been a believer in our Lord and now she is with Him and my deceased father and other family. She was the last of her generation still alive and with her pass away my sister and me are orphans.

Her funeral last wednesday was a witness for the Lord, with a nice psalm and hymns sung.

It was a funeral with dignity .

On the mourning card was written a part of her nice character:

"Let your magnanimity be manifest to all. The Lord is near..." (Philippians 4:5)

and then:

Awoke in the Light asleep in Jesus.

She told us before her demention : "I have had a very good life and be greatful to that."

So we will miss her but gone before us to heaven she will dwell with Him in eternal life and light.

May we all find the way to that eternal home through Jesus Christ our Lord !

adult baptism

Dear friends,

Many of us are baptized when we were a baby. But to oversee all the consequences of baptism you must be an adult. Its so beautiful to consider baptism in all his meanings.

I mean conversion and forgiveness of sin, buried with Christ to resurrect in anew life,the washing of sin and a new life start.

Amazing near comes the Father of light through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.Buried in the deadwaters of sin and lost, rising in glory with the Lord of living in a new life.

Its so symbolic that I consider a re- baptism, not that the children baptism is without worth, but to realise and confess all what I believe and that I wanted to belong to the Lord all my life.

'Your old sin-loving nature was buried with him by baptism when he died, and when God the Father,with glorious power, brought him back to life again, you were given his wonderful new life to enjoy.'

Romans 6:4

'For in baptism you see how your old, evil nature died with him and was buried with him; and then you came out of death with him into a new life because you trusted the Word of the mighty God who raised Christ from the dead.'

Colossians 3:12

'Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given to you; and be sure of this: That I am with you always, even to the end of the world.'

The prodigal son

Look at this painting of Rembrandt. The returning of the prodigal son.Most people know the story of the prodigal son and if not you can read it in Luke 15:11-32.

Its a moving painting, look at the hands of the father who was waiting daily for his lost son. So is our heavenly Father waiting for us when we are lost and will there be joy in heaven when we return to our Father. Outspoken divine love without restrictions.

Also the angry son, who stayed home and served his father always is included in his love.
The father said: "You are always with me and all mine is yours, but your brother was dead and became alive again, he was lost and is found again." Come and celebrate his coming home, don't be angry but glad that your lost brother is saved and home.

This parable reminds us of the everduring love of God. How far we will astray from Him he still invites us to come back to Him.The angels in heaven will rejoice when a sinner returns and converted to the Father.This parable told Jesus and Jesus is the image of the unseen Father God.

God's love lasts forever!!

speak in tongues

The Holy Spirit was coming with all his fruits and gifts. One of his gifts is 'speaking in tongues.' We don't know really how and what to pray as it ought to be. Therefor we got the gift of 'speaking in tongues.'

Be still for God and wait for Him. There are so many, many things to pray for and to thank for. Too many! In that case, with that feeling, I 'll open my mouth in my mind and say the words I don't know what they mean, but they come in a stream and they are prayer to God. Its relaxing connection with God through the Holy Spirit. Very simple and very helpful in your prayers.

'And in the same way-by our faith- the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how to pray as we should; but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows, of course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God's own will.'

Romans 8:26,27

'So a person "speaking in tongues" helps himself grow spiritually, but one who prophesies, preaching messages from God, helps the entire church grow in holiness and happiness.'

1 Corinthians 14:4

So you see friends "speaking in tongues" helps you to grow spiritually but is not the biggest gift. That gift is LOVE!!

Pentecost

Pentecost now here. The Lord did not leave us without sending us his Holy Spirit. The power of God on earth. This morning watched a BBC- pentecostal service in Peterborough, England from the King's Gate church.The glad message of changed lives through the Spirit of God who came in to dwell. Up is ask God for his Spirit, down He will come in by asking.

Ten chosen were baptized and started a new life. The old life with sin was burried in the watergrave and from the watergrave they rised into a new life with Christ like Christ raised from the grave through suffering and dead into new everlasting life. Now He is at the right hand of the Father and King of Kings and Lord of Lords. From now on we will live with Him who loved us so dearly.

Never alone with the Holy Spirit sent. Be aware all your days when you feeling lonely that He is at hand. The Comforter is there and will always help you through.

This fire will burn, a fire of love. Ask Him to come in, He will never leave you. Lift then up your hands and hearts to receive Him.

after holiday

After a very nice holiday in Diano Marina in Italy we returned home last saturday. We went with a bus with a christian group of 46 people. We have seen a lot of this beautiful part of Italy, called 'the flower riviera'. Every evening after diner we sung together psalms or hymns and the tourleader was a woman who held a short reflection of the past day from the Bible.There was a very good spirit among the participants of the trip and all this built us in faith.
Grateful to God who gave us all we now take up normal daily life. Praise be to God.

Holiday in Italy

Now on holiday in Italy. With a group in Diano Marina. A group of christians of diverse churches in Holland.We see a lot and every evening we have a kind of service. We came by bus, two days drive and will go back next friday 22 st of may.

Mother's day

A tribute to all mothers on this mother's day. In most cases she is the one who learned us to know the Lord in our youth, with biblestories, songs and with the christian way of life as the example of Jesus life on earth.

Be blessed all the mothers in this special way. My mother still alive, nearly 93 years old but demented. Still she is happy and satisfied with her life without knowing anything. All she forgot but the Lord on her side she will go her last years in peace travelling to the eternal Light through Jesus Christ her Lord.

So wish all the (very) old mothers the closeness of the Lord in their illnes and age.
Trust in the Lord always! He will make it well for you.

Life without limbs

With great admiration this morning watched the 'Hour of power' from the 'Crystal Chathedral' in Garden Grove - California, USA.

Here spoke Nick Vujicic, born without limbs, an ambassador of the message of Christ Jesus.

He told how the Holy Spirit is using him for the gospel spread and the love of God. So disabled and so gifted with grace and love through our Lord is a miracle.He is a witness whatever can happen in our lives and how dark it can be: God knows about and will turn the darkness into light. More than conquerers in Christ our Lord.

How true is the word of God:

"Trust in the Lord instead. Be kind and good to others; then you will live safely here in the land and prosper,feeding in safety.Be delighted with the Lord. Then He will give you all your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him to help you do it and He will."

Departure

Many times in our life we have to move from one to another place. Moving in our own city, in our own country, abroad and so on.

It is part of life and separation brings many times lots of grief and pain to our family and friends. Still over the hills and far away life seems better and prospourous than were we stayed and lived.

First let me say it is good to move for holiday from time to time, for visits to friends,
seeing other things, meeting other persons, cultures and behaviour.

But today's restlessness in the world is the modern escape from a restless heart and mind for many people. They are unhappy and think to find rest with travelling away and escape for themselves. The way to find rest in a restless world is to go to Jesus, the Son of God.In prayer with an open heart to receive His blessings:

"Come to me, all whose work is hard, whose load is heavy, and I will give you relief. Bend your necks to my yoke, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble-hearted; and your souls will find relief. For my yokeis good to bear, my load is light."

Matthew 11:28-30

Wish you a good departure and travel to Him who can change your restlessness into rest. Leave there by arrival your burden and find relief, He will give you rest for time and eternity.

Messiah and experience

This very morning experienced CD with "The Messiah." Beautiful music and more....going higher...., then also experienced an article of a Dutch pastor in the newspaper and his experiences of faith. When he looks to the clouds its an image of religious experience and something that goes higher we can imagine.

Look at his face, compassionate and simultaneously higher and higher. Through His unity with His Father He took us all and draw us to God. He was rejected and despised, despised and with grief, a man of sorrow. Image of God, Jesus Son of man.

"In the world you will have trouble. But courage! The victory is mine; I have conquered the world."

Footballplayer and christian

Kew Jaliens as a footballplayer and christian seen in a interview on the Dutch television by wellknown presentator Martin Simek.

It has been a sweet testimony for our Lord Jesus Christ. Kew is baptized as an adult in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He knew what he did. And now the heavenly Father has taken him for His account. The Son will forgive him all his sins and the Holy Spirit will lead him always now in the path of the Father and the Son, because the Three are One.

I am glad you did not deny our Lord, you and your family, and will pray to you all His blessings for now and always!!
Rejoice in the Lord always, again I said rejoice!! (Philippians 4:4)

birthday

Yesterday celebrated my birthday. My friend and me stayed in a hotel near Apeldoorn. We were there for 3 days. We cycled a lot through the woods and had a marvellous time.

Every year older (64 now) reminds me our life has an end. Still healthy as far as we know, but there can be a time life is not so joyeus as we expect it should be. Then it is good to have an anchor in life. That anchor is our Lord Jesus Christ. He will be there in need and joy, in despair and fear, yes always. Ask Him simple in your life, he will come! You dont have to feel it He came in, but believe it. And when he came already long time ago, keep Him alive in faith and His Holy Spirit will lead you always to abundant life.
If you dont know Him say the simple prayer and it will happen:

Dear God, come please into my heart,
forgive my sins and anew my life.
Let me be a new creature in your name
and let me be a blessing for many people
on my road to heaven.
This all I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son.

Just normal life returns

After the Easter holidays 'normal' life be back again. But life never is 'normal', it is a gift of God. When we have nothing left He is always left for us.

And also when you look around you will still find things to be glad. Trees in a abundant blossom beauty telling their own stories, birds in this spring busy with their nests and sometimes young, people you love always still there.

Try to see what you have left after loss as pain, sorrow and dead. One will be always with you. Ask Him in your life, He will never forget you and forsake you, because He is God and deepest Love of Him is always available, through his Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

As soon as Judas had received the bread (of Jesus) he went out. It was night. When he had gone out Jesus said: 'Now is the Son of Man glorified, and in him God is glorified. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself; and he will glorify him now.'

Now the Son of Man after betrayel looking after the suffering he will go through. The glorifying by the Father after his coming resurrection. But first the desolate lost scream: 'My god, my God why hast thou forsaken me?'

Now the festival of Passover and Unleavened Bread was only two days off; and the chief priests and the doctors of te law were trying to devise some cunning plan to seize him and put him to death.
'It must not be during the festival', they said, 'or we should have rioting among the people.'

Mark 14 : 1-2

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray him to them. When they heard what he had come for, they were greatly pleased, and promised him money; and he began to look for a good opportunity to betray him.

Mark 14: 10-11

Now the betrayer is near to betray Jesus. He who had done no evil and sin, only doing well, heal the sick, blessed the multitude of people of all kind, freed them of all principal powers of darkness.
Here the Prince of Peace goes his way to set us all free forever! Forgiveness, healing, and victory. The very high price is his suffering and dead on the cross to set us free forever. Suffering in our place and taking our sins is deepest love possible.

Lord have mercey upon us

God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, that everyone who has faith in him may not die but have eternal life.

Depressed

Today I read a comforting prayer for the many people who are depressed and under stress. Its written by Dr. Walter. L. Weston.
I would like to pray it with you when you need it now:

God, life seems so bleak and useless right now.
I don't have any energy.
I have no ambition to do much of anything.
I am really feeling down.
I feel "down on" myself and "down on" everyone around me.
Even as I pray, I don't sense your presence.
I am going through the motions, knowing that you are still with me.

I know that I am sacred and precious but they are just words right now.
I know that my life has been worthwhile, full of many wonderful people and
experiences, much happines and joy.
I feel little of this right now.
God, all I can do is affirm the goodness of life and try to hold on until the
darkness is replaced by your light and love.

Help me to spot the lies that my depressed emotions are telling me.
Life is good. I am good. You are good. Grant me hope. My loved ones love me.
Life will be beautiful again.
Soon I will again know vitality and purpose, happiness and love.
Until then, give me the strength and hope to survive this day.

Help me to smile and laugh, even if just for a moment.
Be my strength and salvation.
I ask you to restore me and make me whole.
Fill me with the Word and Spirit that I might be recreated anew.
I praise and thank you.

In this very silent week, there is a link between the suffering of the Lord with our suffering and depressions. He knows what it is to be depressed and rejected. Maybe that can be a comfort that he knows of your suffering. He is there right now.The blessings of the Lord Jesus Christ with you all.

New Life

Spring slowly coming in The Netherlands. As it is in nature it is also with faith, it must grow to bear fruits.

This week will be the good week before Easter, we think of the road to the cross of our Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the Lamb of God bearing the sin of a world lost in guilt.

Hope you all will be blessed through Him who died for us all to set us free from all evil.

Take the new life for free and you will be a new creature!!
